僕は今、早稲田大学に在籍している、ごく普通の男子大学生。実は高校までずっと田舎育ちで、東京に出てくるまでは「満員電車ってのれるのかな？」「いかつい人たくそんいそうだな。」って、期待と同時に色々な不安もありました。

政治経済学部ってどういう学部なの？🤔💭

政治経済学部は略して「政経」と呼ばれています！英語ではSchool of Political Science and Economicsです📚

政経はなんといっても早稲田で最高峰の学部なんです！！😎✨ 早稲田の中でも政経の人は飛び抜けて頭が良く、早稲田生からしてもすごい存在なんです！

偏差値も早稲田の中でトップクラスで、一般入試の倍率も毎年めちゃくちゃ高いです💦 でもその分、入学できた時の達成感は半端ないですよ！！

経済学科は経済についての専門的な学識をそなえ、それをもとに社会の発展に寄与する人材を育成します！経済現象は、人間生存に必要なものを産み出し行き渡らせるという、個々人の生活ひいては社会全体を支えている営みのあらわれなんです🌈

複雑化・多様化する社会・経済に合わせて、経済学も進化しています。このため、経済学をツールとして身につけるためには、基礎から徹底して学ぶとともに、関心をもつ分野にそれを応用することが望まれます。

経済学科では、段階的科目履修制と豊富な応用分野科目によって、その目的に沿ったカリキュラムが組まれています。また、演習をとおして、主体的に議論し、考えをまとめあげる力をそなえた人材が育ちます。

数学が得意な人は特に経済学科で活躍できると思います！統計学や計量経済学など、数学的な手法を使った分析がメインになってくるので、理系出身の人も結構いるんですよ📊

国際政治経済学科は政治学・経済学の体系的な知識の上にたって、時代と国境を越えるという意味でグローバルなヴィジョンにたった政治経済制度刷新と改善のための政策提言をおこない、人類社会の発展に寄与する人材を育成します。

われわれの社会が抱えるどのような問題も、歴史的文脈のなかでの現代と国際相互依存という脈絡を抜きにしては的確に理解できません。また、国際社会のあり方も変わりつつあり、社会のあり方そのものに対する新たな視座が必要となっています。

政経のキャンパスがすごい！！🏢✨

政治経済学部は3号館にあるんですが、この建物がとにかくすごいんです！！😍

3号館は中にエスカレーターがあり、とてもきれいな配色になっています🌈 この建物だけお金のかけ方が違うな、とみんな思うはずです！笑

もともとあった建物の上から新しい建物を建設しており、中に昔の建物の屋根が入っているみたいな状態なんです🏗️ この建築手法は本当に珍しくて、建築学的にも話題になったそうです！

3号館の設備について📚

• 最新のAV設備が完備された大教室
• 少人数制のゼミ室
• 学生が自由に使える自習スペース
• カフェテリア（コーヒーが美味しい！☕）
• 図書室（政治学・経済学の専門書が充実）

でも1個懸念としては、建物がとても高く9階か10階ほどあるので、それをエスカレーターで登るとなると5分以上かかるそうで、朝や授業に遅れそうなときなどは最悪だそうです💦😅

実際、1限の授業に遅刻しそうになって、必死にエスカレーターを駆け上がったことがあります…息切れしました😵‍💫

政経の授業って実際どう？📖

授業の特徴

政経の授業は本当に多様で充実しています！大きく分けて以下のような授業があります：

• 200〜300人規模の大教室での授業
• 著名な教授による質の高い講義
• 最新の研究成果に基づいた内容

授業の難易度について

正直に言うと、政経の授業は結構大変です💦 でもその分、本当に質が高くて、学べることが多いんです！

特に1年生の時は、政治学と経済学の基礎を同時に学ぶので、最初は混乱することもありました。でも先生方のサポートが手厚いので、しっかり勉強すれば必ず付いていけます💪

レポートの課題も多く、図書館で夜遅くまで勉強している学生をよく見かけます📚 でも、そういう環境だからこそ、みんなで切磋琢磨できるんです！

政経の現実って？🤔💭

政治経済学部は何と言ってもその忙しさ、信じられないような授業の数と難しいその難易度がやはり政経だなという感じです！😵‍💫

内部生と一般入試組の違い

しかし、政治経済学部にもいろいろあります。政治経済学部といっても、内部生（付属高校出身者）はあまりすごいとは言われない（すごいんですけど）、そのすごさがやはりちょっと衰えてしまうところがあって、しかし、一般入学で政治経済学部に入った人は、とてつもない頭の良さを持っています🧠✨

一般入試で入った人の学力は本当にすごくて、授業中の発言や議論のレベルの高さに驚かされることが多いです！

東大落ちの学生について

でも、その人たちのほとんどは東大や京大に落ちて、すべり止めで受けた早稲田の政治経済学部に入ったという人が結構いるので、早稲田の顔である政経にいながら肩身が狭いと思っている人も数多くいるのが特徴です😢

これは結構リアルな話で、入学したばかりの頃は「第一志望じゃなかった」という話をよく聞きました。でも、実際に政経で学んでいるうちに、この学部の素晴らしさに気づいて、プライドを持って卒業していく人がほとんどです！

でも僕が思うに…🤗💕

早稲田の政経や東大のような日本一と呼ばれるぐらいの大学に入れば、その後の大学の過ごし方次第で人生はマイナス100から100のどの値にもなると思っています！

なので、東大に落ちたからって早稲田の政経がダメなわけないんです！その後の大学の生活の仕方によって、大学で何をしたかによって、その人生は決まっていくので、東大がすごいとか早稲田がすごいっていうわけではありません😊✨

実際、政経の卒業生は様々な分野で活躍されています：

• 政治家（国会議員、地方議員）
• 官僚（外務省、財務省、経済産業省など）
• 大手企業の経営者
• ジャーナリスト
• 研究者・大学教授

僕の政経の友達を紹介します！👫

某有名高校出身で、その子も東大を目指していました。その学校は東大排出者がとても多く、その子は東大に落ちてしまい、早稲田の政経に入学しました📚

入学して少しの間は東大に入れなかったことを引きずり、肩身が狭いとずっと落ち込んでいた様子でした😔

その子のスペックがやばくて…東大に入れなかったのにも関わらず、その子の共通テストはもちろん9割を超えており、930点ぐらいだったかな📊 数学はほとんど満点、英語も満点、国語も一問ミスなどとんでもない点数を取るような人で、僕からしたら考えられない人種です😱

でも早稲田に入ってからの変化がすごかったんです！最初は落ち込んでいましたが、政経の授業の質の高さ、教授陣の素晴らしさ、そして同級生たちの刺激的な議論に触れるうちに、だんだん早稲田政経に誇りを持つようになりました。

しかし、今はサークル活動や学校生活、バイトなど日々充実している生活を送っており、とても楽しそうにしています🎉✨

彼は今、国際政治経済学科で学んでいて、将来は商社を目指しています。「東大に落ちたからこそ、早稲田政経で学べることの価値に気づけた」と言っているのが印象的でした！

毎年11月に開催される早稲田祭は、政経の学生も積極的に参加します🎪 僕たちの学科では、毎年政治・経済に関する展示や講演会を開催していて、多くの来場者に好評です！

I’m currently a student at Waseda University – just an ordinary male college student. Seikei is undoubtedly the most prestigious department at Waseda!! 😎✨ Even among Waseda students, those in Seikei are exceptionally smart and are considered amazing by other students!

The deviation value is also top-class at Waseda, and the competition ratio for general admission is extremely high every year💦 But the sense of achievement when you get admitted is incredible!!

Department of Political Science🏛️

The Department of Political Science inherits the founding spirit of academic independence and the establishment of an autonomous civil society! This spirit is reflected in the high ideal of analyzing living political phenomena through close cooperation with economics and aiming for scholarship that can be transmitted from Japan to the world😤

By preparing a systematic and progressive curriculum suitable for political science as a complex academic field spanning many areas such as institutions, theory, history, thought, regions, and international relations, and combining it with small-group education such as seminars, we cultivate human resources who can think about political phenomena professionally and independently.

We aim to cultivate leaders who possess a constructive critical spirit and can work calmly, devotedly, and globally in diverse fields such as international affairs, politics, economics, journalism, and public service!

I have a friend in the Department of Political Science, and their daily routine includes reading newspapers and checking political news every day. I’m always amazed by their deep interest and knowledge in politics📰

Department of Economics💰

The Department of Economics nurtures human resources who have specialized knowledge of economics and contribute to social development based on that knowledge! Economic phenomena are manifestations of activities that produce and distribute what is necessary for human survival, supporting individual lives and society as a whole🌈

As society and the economy become more complex and diverse, economics is also evolving. Therefore, to acquire economics as a tool, it’s necessary to learn thoroughly from the basics and apply it to areas of interest.

In the Department of Economics, a curriculum is organized according to this purpose through a progressive course system and abundant applied field subjects. Also, through seminars, human resources are developed who have the ability to actively discuss and organize their thoughts.

People who are good at mathematics can especially excel in the Department of Economics! Since mathematical methods such as statistics and econometrics are mainly used for analysis, there are quite a few students from science backgrounds📊

Department of International Political Economy🌍

The Department of International Political Economy, based on systematic knowledge of political science and economics, makes policy proposals for political and economic institutional innovation and improvement from a global vision that transcends time and borders, nurturing human resources who contribute to the development of human society.

Any problem our society faces cannot be properly understood without considering the contemporary context within historical contexts and international interdependence. Also, the nature of international society is changing, and new perspectives on the nature of society itself are needed.

Human resources who have the ability to analyze real problems based on the advanced integration of political science and economics and propose solutions, and the power to act to realize them, are exactly what the chaotic contemporary social situation truly demands!

Students in this department have really high consciousness, and many participate in Model UN and debate competitions🗣️

Seikei’s Campus is Amazing!!🏢✨

The School of Political Science and Economics is located in Building 3, and this building is just incredible!!😍

Building 3 has escalators inside and beautiful color coordination🌈 Everyone thinks this building alone has a different level of investment! lol

It’s built as a new building on top of the original building, so it’s like the roof of the old building is inside🏗️ This construction method is really rare and apparently became a topic in architectural circles!

About Building 3’s Facilities📚

• Large classrooms equipped with the latest AV equipment
• Small seminar rooms for small-group classes
• Study spaces that students can use freely
• Cafeteria (the coffee is delicious! ☕)
• Library (well-stocked with political science and economics specialized books)

But one concern is that the building is very tall, about 9 or 10 floors, so it takes more than 5 minutes to go up by escalator, which is terrible when you’re late for morning classes💦😅

Actually, I once almost missed my first-period class and desperately ran up the escalator… I was out of breath😵‍💫

Seikei’s classes are really diverse and fulfilling! Broadly speaking, there are the following types of classes:

About Class Difficulty

About Course Difficulty

To be honest, the courses in the School of Political Science and Economics are quite challenging! 💦 But they’re incredibly high-quality, and there’s so much to learn!

Especially in the first year, you’re learning the fundamentals of both political science and economics simultaneously, so it can be confusing at first. However, the professors provide excellent support, so if you study hard, you can definitely keep up! 💪

There are many report assignments, and you often see students studying late into the night at the library 📚 But it’s precisely because of this environment that we can all motivate each other to excel!

The Reality of Political Science and Economics? 🤔💭

What really defines the School of Political Science and Economics is its incredible busyness, the unbelievable number of courses, and their difficult level! 😵‍💫

Differences Between Internal Students and General Admission Students

However, there are various aspects to the School of Political Science and Economics. Even within the same school, internal students (those from affiliated high schools) aren’t said to be as impressive (though they are impressive!), and their excellence tends to diminish somewhat. However, those who entered the School of Political Science and Economics through general admission have tremendous intellectual ability! 🧠✨

The academic ability of those who entered through general admission is truly amazing, and I’m often surprised by the high level of their comments and discussions during class!

About Students Who Didn’t Get Into Tokyo University

But most of these students actually failed to get into Tokyo University or Kyoto University and entered Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics as their safety school. So there are quite a few people who feel somewhat inferior despite being in the School of Political Science and Economics, which is the face of Waseda 😢

This is quite a realistic story – when I first entered, I often heard people say “This wasn’t my first choice.” But as they actually study in the School of Political Science and Economics, most of them realize how wonderful this school is and graduate with pride!

But I think… 🤗💕

If you can get into a university that’s called the best in Japan, like Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics or Tokyo University, I believe that depending on how you spend your university life afterward, your life can range anywhere from minus 100 to plus 100!

So just because you didn’t get into Tokyo University doesn’t mean Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics is bad! Your life will be determined by how you live your university life afterward and what you do at university – it’s not about Tokyo University being great or Waseda being great 😊✨

Actually, graduates from the School of Political Science and Economics are active in various fields:

• Politicians (Diet members, local assembly members)
• Government officials (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, etc.)
• CEOs of major corporations
• Journalists
• Researchers and university professors
• International organization staff

Let me introduce my friend from the School of Political Science and Economics! 👫

He’s from a famous high school and was also aiming for Tokyo University. His school produces many Tokyo University students, but he failed to get in and entered Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics 📚

For a while after enrollment, he was dragging the fact that he couldn’t get into Tokyo University and seemed constantly depressed, feeling inferior 😔

His specs were incredible… Despite not getting into Tokyo University, his Common Test score was over 90%, around 930 points 📊 He got nearly perfect scores in math, perfect in English, and missed only one question in Japanese – he’s the kind of person I can’t even comprehend 😱

But the change after entering Waseda was amazing! At first he was depressed, but as he experienced the high quality of the School of Political Science and Economics courses, the excellence of the professors, and the stimulating discussions with classmates, he gradually began to take pride in Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics.

Now he’s living a fulfilling life with club activities, school life, part-time jobs, and seems to be having a great time! 🎉✨

He’s currently studying in the Department of International Political Economy and aims to become a diplomat. It was impressive when he said, “Because I failed to get into Tokyo University, I was able to realize the value of what I could learn at Waseda’s School of Political Science and Economics!”
